This Roman pilum is a replica of an original from the 1stcentury AD. Around this time the pilum was shorter and weighted with a lead ball. After the pilum hit a target the spearhead usually bended, so that it couldn?t be thrown back.
The shaft of this throwing spear has a shaft cap. The length of this pilum is 224 cm and it is made of wood and steel. It is usable at a distance of 10 to 20 metres. It weighs approx. 2,8 kg and is delivered in 2 parts.
