Get the look: Celtic queen Medb

The working title for this photoshoot was Celtic queens. Our characters were inspired by Celtic mythology and the stories of strong women, like the queens Boudicca of de Iceni and Medb of the Connacht. So that is how we built our fantasy character with a layer of history. We hope this collection inspires you to create an epic character yourself!

Dress

De color red was historically a hard color to paint with, so only rich people could afford to wear red. The dress Aelswith gives a beautiful silhouette and a striking neckline. The subtle embroidery at the neck, sleeves and skirt complete the dress.

Cloak

The cloak George is ideal to create an epic character. It does not cover the shoulders and als leaves the front of the body open, so the rest of your costume is also very visible. Besides that you can change the straps as you wish and decorate it with jewelry to make a statement.

We decorated the cloak with two spiraling fibulae. The spiral is an ancient syymbol, originally dating from 700 BC, the Hallstat time, which is known as the start of Celtic civilisation.

Torque

The torgue is the ultimate sign of richdom in Celtic culture. This one is inspired by originals from the La Tène time. In the design the spiral returns yet again, which we also used for the fibulae.

Sword

Because bronze was hard to work with, only the elite owned a sword.
