The so-called Norman shield was originally meant for equestrians, but it became popular among infantrymen because it protected the foreleg. The shield is associated with the Normans who are depicted using this type of shield on the Bayeux Tapestry.

This shield is made of 10 mm thick wood and is covered with linen. The linen is glued to the wood and painted white so that it can easily be painted with your desired colours. At the back it has a belt for wearing, arm straps and padding. The shield has a height of 131 cm, a width of 56 cm and it weighs approx. 2,9 kg.

Absolutely not strong enough for reenactment battles. (I don't LARP so I don't know about that). The leather straps are placed wierd.
It's pretty light in weight (compared to my reenactment shield), so I still got it painted and now use it for convensions (type comicon,...)

Niet waterbestendig
Persoonlijk vind ik de manier van de touwen vasthouden niet optimaal comfortabel

(in deze review is hij nog niet getest voor gevechten)
