Description

This Viking sword is a replica of an 11th century sword found in a swamp near Dybek in Sweden, the original is on display at the Historiska Museet in Stockholm. It is a Petersen type Z. The pommel and cross-guard are richly decorated with birds, snakes and tendrils in the Winchester style and make the sword perhaps the most beautiful excavated Viking sword in Scandinavia. Archaeologists suspect that the sword originated in England or was based on English metalwork. The sword was probably owned by a Viking noble because of their close contact with England. The strong blade is made of tempered EN45 carbon steel and has a wide fuller. The edge is 1 mm thick, so you can also make the sword blunted or razor sharp. The lobed pommel is peened, the grip is wrapped with brass wire and the tang continues into the pommel. The sword is delivered including a beautifully decorated scabbard that you can hang on your belt.
