Product description

These beautiful medieval turnshoes are based on a find from old Schleswig and date from the period 1000 to 1250 AD. They stand out due to their excellent fit and a particularly refined fastening system, combined with a rounded heel shape — a rare feature that reflects true craftsmanship. The boots are entirely handmade using the turnshoe sewing technique, an authentic medieval method. In this process, the shoes are sewn inside out by hand and then turned right-side out to achieve their final shape — completely glue-free and in full accordance with historical tradition.

Both the upper leather and the sole are made from vegetable-tanned cowhide. This natural material ensures not only strength and durability but also gives the shoes their characteristic antique appearance. They are pre-treated, making the upper leather water-repellent, so there is no immediate need to polish or condition them — although you're free to do so if desired. Please note: only the soles still need to be treated by the wearer for additional protection and longevity.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

When packaging this item, we exclusively use 100% recycled plastic and recycled paper/cardboard from FSC certified forests. We reuse a large part of the material directly without the intervention of a recycling process.
Recycle the material by separating your waste:
1. Cardboard: separate or reuse your paper.
2. Plastic cushions, clothing bags and plastic tape: separate or reuse your plastic. If possible, pierce the cushions with a volume reduction needle.
3. Paper packaging for jewelry and small items: these have a plastic inner layer. Remove these, then separate your paper and plastic.
