Product description

This votive statue is a replica of a piece found in France. Small statues of the goddess Venus were placed in house altar throughout the whole Roman empire.

Venus, the Roman goddess of love, originally an old Italic goddess of vegetation, protector of the gardens and orchards, was later equated to the Greek Aphrodite.

This statue is hand made from alabaster and is 16 cm high. Possibly this small statues were painted to make them get a life like appearance.
