Product description
This helmet is based on a late 14th/early 15th century original made in Northern Italy . It is an early variant of the great bascinet. The great bascinet offered more protection to the entire head, the neck and partly the shoulders. It was often combined with the haubergeon, coat of plates and later the first types of cuirasses. In the first half of the 15th century this type of helmet evolved into the armet but the great bascinet remained popular until the mid 15th century or later.
