The rapier first came into use around 1500 and until the end of the seventeenth century this was the main weapon of European citizens and nobility. Noble soldiers used the rapier mainly for warfare (it was perfect for stabbing between plate armor and leather armor), but also for ceremonial purposes such as parades. A rapier was also used for fencing and duels between two gentlemen, so that the rapier became a permanent attribute of a gentleman. This replica is based on various German rapiers from the seventeenth century.
The blade is made of EN45 spring steel with a screwed pommel. It has swept hilt with an S-shaped guard and a grip that is decorated with steel wire and brass wire. The rapier is delivered including a black leather scabbard with a wooden core and steel chapes.

Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your weapons regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper. Remove burrs with a whetstone. Make sure you have removed all burrs before using a battle-ready weapon, as they can cause wounds.
Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.
This item is semi-sharp and designed for decorative purposes. It can be made razor sharp at a surcharge. When using the sharpening service, the return right and warranty expires. The extra delivery time is approx. 2 weeks.
The blade of this sword can be blunted (2,5-3 mm) at a surcharge. Please note: although the thickness will be the same as a battle-ready sword, the return right and warranty expires when using the blunting service. Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.
Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
