Product description

This filigree bronze comb pendant is crafted after an original from the Bronze Age, dated between 900–700 BCE, found in Flädje, near Alfshög in Halland, Sweden. The original bronze comb was discovered in a burial pit about 1 km west of the Ätran River. The comb dates to the Bronze Age, Period V, and was acquired by the Swedish History Museum in 1852.

Small bronze combs from the Scandinavian Bronze Age are frequently found at various archaeological sites and were likely used not only for hair grooming but also for beard care. The design of this comb features a sun wheel, a recurring motif in Bronze Age culture, and the comb is fully functional.

The pendant is made from high-quality bronze. You can wear the comb as a pendant around the neck or attach it to clothing or a belt. The dimensions of the bronze comb pendant are 4.7 x 3.7 cm, closely matching the original historical model.

Beauty was very important in Bronze Age culture. Beauty symbolized cosmic order, while dirt and ugliness represented chaos. This is why all Indo-European rituals began with purification before addressing their gods. From this tradition, we derive words such as “cosmetics” and “art.”
