This beautiful decorative sword is an asset for lovers of early medieval swords! The sword is an exact replica of an original from the 8th century that was excavated at Fetter Lane in London. In 1893 it was donated to the British Museum, where it is still on display for everyone to admire. The original grip is made of gold-plated silver and has remained very intact. Because of the expensive precious metal and the craftsmanship that was involved in the manufacture of this sword, archaeologists suspect that it was owned by an elite warrior or nobleman. The blade of the original has not been preserved, so for this replica a frequently occurring type of early medieval blade with a wide fuller was chosen. The grip of the replica is made of tinned bronze, this approaches the appearance of the silver original but the price remains lower. Just like the original, the grip is made from various parts that are riveted together. The grip and pommel are decorated with beautiful early medieval organic motifs. The sword is delivered including a brown leather scabbard with tinned bronze fittings and a belt loop so you can hang it on your belt.
