Product description

This wearable, fully articulated reconstruction of a set of poleyns, as worn in the late Middle Ages, is designed to protect the knee area, covering from the lower thigh to the upper shin. This type of leg armor was worn by knights and soldiers across Europe. It is crafted from 1.6 mm (16 gauge) steel and blackened on the inside for better corrosion resistance.

The leg armor consists of poleyns (knee protectors, also known as genouillères), short cuisses with braided cords (including brass tips), and short greaves. All parts are connected by sliding plates or lames, which are securely fastened with sturdy steel rivets, ensuring ample freedom of movement. The upper edge of the cuisses and the lower edge of the greaves are rounded, and the poleyns extend into distinctive, fishtail-shaped wings on the outer sides.

At the back, three riveted, adjustable leather straps of approximately 3 mm thickness with steel buckles provide a comfortable and customizable fit.

Maintenance & care
Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your armour regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Please note. After finishing the product yourself, the warranty and return right expire. Celtic WebMerchant is not responsible for the obtained result."
