The kettle hat was a type of helmet that was used through whole Europe. It was mainly worn by infantrymen because the wide edge provided a good protection against blows from above (from cavalry) or projectiles that were thrown by the besieged. Kettle hats were worn since the beginning of the 11thcentury and were very high rated, although not in the beginning because they were not knightly enough.
This battle-ready kettle hat is made after a type from approx. 1340. The helmet is handmade of 2 mm strong steel.
