This is a reconstruction of a Germanic spearhead (framea) that was used in South Germany between the 1stand 5thcentury AD. The framea was both used as javelin and battle spear. Similar models have been found in England. It was possibly transferred with the Germanic nations in the early middle ages.

This item is hand forged from one piece of carbon steel. It is sharp so it is not battle ready. It is unpolished, as a result of which the hammer beats are clearly visible.

The spearhead has a length of 24,5 cm, the blade is 12 cm and the socket is 12,5 cm. It is suitable for a shaft with a diameter of approx. 22 mm. It weighs approx. 210 grams.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.

Reviews for product "Hand forged Germanic javelin spearhead"
