The wakizashi was a blade between 30 and 60 cm. Wearing a katana and a wakizashi together symbolized a warrior's status as a true samurai. These two swords were called daisho — big-small. Samurai fought with the wakizashi from the fifteenth or sixteenth century. It served as a backup or auxiliary sword, ideal for close combat, beheading an opponent, or committing ritual suicide. Beyond samurai, the chonin class — merchants and traders — were also allowed to carry the wakizashi. This LARP Wakizashi is a great weapon for Asian characters like samurai, nobles, and traders.
