The nodachi is a traditional Japanese sword used by the samurai in feudal Japan. It served both a ceremonial function and as an infantry sword. Warriors used it as a sacrifice to a sanctuary or patron gods, and sometimes in prayer before battle. Some were displayed in temples to represent swords from myths.
Samurai typically wore the nodachi on their back, as the blade was too long to carry on the hip. Cavalry used the nodachi against infantry to stab horses, or against opposing cavalry thanks to its length. After the Siege of Osaka in 1615, the nodachi shifted from a functional weapon to a primarily ceremonial one.
This LARP nodachi is perfect for Asian LARP characters. Made from a 10 mm diameter glass core fiber and EVA foam, it is well suited for LARP battles.
