Product description
Common soldiers wore jackchains throughout the 14th and 15th centuries. They protect the joints and bones of the arm without the weight or cost of a full arm harness. The solid metal strips stop strikes that cloth or chain armor alone cannot fully block, often saving a soldier's arm from serious injury. The common soldier of this period could not afford a full suit of plate armor, but still wanted as much protection as their budget allowed. Some armies provided "munitions grade" plate armor, lent or leased to soldiers and often made to fit any size. Made from 1.6 mm steel, these jackchains are suitable for reenactment battles. They are designed to attach to a gambeson or mail hauberk.
