This leg armor is based on originals from the 15th century. You can see originals at the Royal Armories in Leeds and in Italian 15th-century paintings. A similar leg armor appears in the Montefeltro altarpiece by Piero della Francesca, worn by the kneeling condottiere Federico da Montefeltro. The painted leg armor was just a bit more luxurious. This replica protects the upper leg, lower leg, and knees. Strong leather straps at the back let you fasten it securely. White laces at the top attach to your belt, gambeson, or chestplate. Wear it comfortably for hours without it coming loose. The authentic historical roundels protect the back of the knee. Combine it with other armor pieces for a complete late medieval costume.
