Sutton Hoo buckle, brass

This is a highly accurate reconstruction of the golden buckle found in Sutton Hoo. The original was buried in the early 7th century with its owner in a ship grave, along with, among other things, the famous Sutton Hoo helmet. It can now be admired in the British Museum in London. The buckle is made of brass. It is supplied including mounting hardware. This belt fitting is made in the Germanic animal style type II/B.

Raven symbols are probably associated with intelligence, tact, knowledge, magic and predictive ability. While the wolf stands more for cunning, aggression and strength, the raven stands more for thoughtfulness, acumen and the careful pursuit of goals. Both emphasize Germanic and Viking culture in two different ways. Both come together in the god Odin/Wodan whose role is to guard the cosmic order.
