Product description
Landsknechts were the famous German mercenary soldiers of the late 15th and 16th centuries: infantrymen who, following the Swiss example (the Reislaufer), fought with long pikes and arquebuses, initially in the service of the Habsburg emperors. They played a decisive role in battles such as the Battle of Pavia (1525) and the Siege of Vienna (1529), and became infamous for their exuberant clothing style: bright color combinations, ostentatious cuts and enormous puffed sleeves that defied the strict dress codes of their time.
The Ernst shirt has wide, puffy sleeves with fitted cuffs and a lacing at the neck, which can be worn loose for a rough look or laced up for a neater appearance - a versatile basic piece under a doublet, doublet or armor.
