Amulet Cles-Mechel, bronze

Product description

This Celtic druid jewelry from the Hallstatt period is based on a find from Cles-Mechel in South Tyrol. The original can be seen in the Tyrolean Landesmuseum in Innsbruck. The pointed work may be a further development of cupstone motifs; the function of the parts on the underside is unclear, but they may have had a ritual role, like similar parts on the rods of Old Norse völvas. This may have been the grave of an aristocrat — in Celtic culture, politics and religion were closely intertwined.

Performed in bronze, with dimensions of approx. 3 x 6.8 cm.
