The slender, elongated Norwegian spear heads (9th/11th century - Type K according to Petersen - mainly found in Sweden) were perfect for throwing. Their shape and weight, combined with the force of the throw, ensured deep penetration. On the battlefields of the early Middle Ages, Norsemen often carried multiple javelins that they hurled at the enemy as the distance closed. This gave them the freedom to use their swords, axes, or heavier spears in the subsequent hand-to-hand combat. This spear head is suitable for a Viking/early medieval setting and is made of hardened 9260 carbon steel. It has a length of approximately 41 cm (16.25 in.) and edges of approximately 28 cm (11 in.) long. Using two pre-drilled holes, the spear head can be attached to a wood shaft of your choice, allowing you to create your own Viking or early medieval spear. Shaft and additional mounting material are not included.
