Based on Christian views on chastity, married women in the Middle Ages were expected to cover their hair. In addition to providing protection against cold and wind, a veil also provided a subtle status symbol: the more refined the veil and the accompanying pins, the higher the prestige of the wearer. This rectangular veil with matching fillet is inspired by this type of twelfth to fourteenth century head covering.

The veil is woven from a light, flat fabric of 75% cotton and 25% linen, so it falls softly but still remains sufficiently full. The linen portion gives a natural texture, while the... cotton provides a soft touch on the skin. The supplied fillet, a matching fabric band, keeps the veil in place all day long, even during active activities. Colour: natural.

Wear the veil loose for a sober image, or pleated and secured for a neater, neater fall, possibly combined with a coif or cap. Suitable for re-enactment, living history and costumes from peasant woman to noblewoman.
