The Houppelande Cesare is a late medieval overcoat for men, based on clothing from the fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries. This type of surcoat was worn over a doublet or cotehardie and was popular throughout Europe among both the nobility and the upper class. The houppelande became one of the most characteristic outer garments of the late Middle Ages.

This model has a loose-fitting A-line that reaches mid-thigh and offers a lot of freedom of movement. The continuous button closure at the front makes it possible to wear the overcoat both open and closed. The round neck fits nicely on a shirt, doublet or decorative collar.

The long sleeves are slightly gathered at the shoulders for a historic fit and close with buttons at the wrists. By wearing the cuffs open, the sleeves fall loosely along the hands, as can be seen in many late medieval images.

The Houppelande Cesare is made in sky blue and forms a stylish outer layer for various characters, such as a merchant, courtier, scholar or nobleman. Wear it over a doublet or cotehardie for a historically inspired outfit suitable for reenactment, LARP or Renaissance and Medieval events.
