Cuirasses such as these originated in the late Gothic style (1440-1500). The Gothic style was characterized by sharp, heavily decorated forms. The design of this type of cuirass follows Burgundian clothing fashion, where it stopped at the thighs just like the fashionable doublet. Cuirasses such as these were often combined with chainmail voiders, a chainmail collar (standard or bishop's mantle) and a chainmail skirt/gousset. Arms and legs were also fully armored and this style was combined with pointed sabatons, which mimicked the shape of poulaines from clothing fashion.

Gothic harnesses were often worn in combination with a sallet and bevor, but the kettle hat also remained popular. This cuirass is equipped with an integrated plackart that provides extra rigidity to the bottom of the cuirass. This creates the characteristic rib in the middle of the cuirass.

It is made of 1.6 mm thick steel so it is suitable for reenactment battles. The cuirass consists of 3 metal plates, the back plate consists of 2 plates. You can attach the cuirass and back plate to each other with the sturdy leather belts.
