This doublet is a padded garment with long sleeves that protects the torso from neck to hip. From the 15th century, this type of doublet was worn under plate armor: the laces on the garment made it possible to attach parts of armor directly to the doublet. In the late Gothic style (1450-1500) voiders and a mail skirt were often attached.
The lining is stitched vertically and horizontally, with padding that differs per zone so that you maintain optimal freedom of movement. The outer material is sturdy cotton fabric, lined on the inside with a 50% filling cotton and 50% polyester for extra cushioning against impacts from harness parts.
Wear this doublet as a protective base layer under chainmail or plate armor for reenactment or HEMA, or as an independent, practical garment — in late 15th-century Italy, non-knights also wore the doublet as a statusful fashion item.
