Product description
The Landsknechts, German mercenaries who served with pike and arquebus in the army of the Habsburg emperors, were known for their excessively colorful and exuberant clothing. This freedom from prevailing clothing laws was reflected in three characteristics: striking puffed sleeves, asymmetrically placed cuts across the entire garment, and bright color combinations, usually limited to two or three shades per outfit. Landsknecht doublet Götz revisits that characteristic Renaissance style in a two-tone design.
The doublet is made of a heavy brushed wool blend with a 100% lining cotton, for a secure yet wearable fit. Decorative cuts are made on the chest, finished with an adjustable cord and metal lace points. The hem has mounting holes at the bottom for trousers, and there are hand-stitched holes at the shoulders to attach loose sleeves. Please note: this doublet is supplied without sleeves - you can attach the separate sleeves from the same collection yourself. Colour: red and white.
Landsknecht doublet Götz is available from size S up to 2XL and forms the basic of a complete sixteenth-century landsknecht costume, easy to combine with matching sleeves, trousers and headgear from the same collection.
