Product description
Leather jackets like this were worn from the early 16th to mid-17th century by people working outdoors, such as gamekeepers, seafarers, and soldiers. Leather jackets (jerkins) replaced earlier arming doublets and were worn as an underlayer beneath plate armor. Like later arming doublets, this garment was also popular for civilian wear or for use outside a military context. They gave the wearer a rugged, masculine appearance while providing good protection against the elements. From the 17th century, the buff coat evolved from this garment, becoming exclusively a military piece.
The Tilly doublet is made of robust leather and is very suitable for portraying both strict and adventurous characters. Perfect for a LARP gathering or medieval festival. The shoulders protrude slightly, which underlines the elegant style. The doublet can be closed with the button closure at the front. Leather is a natural product and can absorb dyes in different ways. The actual hue may differ from the picture.
