Product description
This axehead is shaped after a foot soldier's axe as depicted in the 13th century in the Maciejowski Bible, a richly illustrated manuscript that gives a vivid picture of the arms of that period. The compact, functional head shape was typical of the infantry axes with which ordinary soldiers took to the field.
Only the axehead is supplied; a handle is not included. The head is forged from untreated carbon steel and finished semi sharp. Because the steel is untreated, it can rust – a thin layer of oil keeps rust at bay. Dimensions and weight may vary slightly due to handcrafting.
This blade is suitable for re-enactment and living history and for collectors seeking a historically sound piece. Fit it to a suitable wooden handle to complete the piece. It is not intended for actual combat.
