The mandilion was a type cloak or loose outer garment that was worn from the end of the 16th century, including by soldiers. Mandilions came in different designs: some were sleeveless, while others had loose or hanging sleeves. Characteristic was the ability to wear the garment over one shoulder, leaving the sword arm free. This way of wearing even became a fashion trend at the end of the 16th century.
This one cloak is based on 17th century originals that can be seen, for example, in paintings by Dutch and French masters. It is perfect for 17th century reenactment or LARP when portraying a musketeer, noble, wealthy merchant, etc. from northwest Europe. The fabric is approx. hip length and the cloak can be tied with long cords.
