The knight’s shield, or heater shield, developed around the end of the 12th century from the Norman kite shield. Heater shields get their name from Victorian historians who associated the shape of the shield with a Victorian flat iron. These shields were significantly smaller than the earlier Norman kite shields, offering less protection to the left leg but providing much greater maneuverability. At the beginning of the 13th century, heater shields were used alongside the large Norman kite shields. Later, only heater shields and bucklers were used. These shields remained in use on the battlefield until the 14th century and continued to be used afterward for tournament purposes.

This kite shield is made from 1.2 cm thick steel. It has been treated with a rust-resistant coating and can be painted in your own colors or heraldic design. A handle is attached to the back. The shield measures 68 cm in height and 50 cm in width, and weighs approximately 3.3 kg.
