This type of great helm appeared in the mid-13th century. The advantage of this development was that the great helm now protected not only the head but also parts of the neck. This type of helmet was cylindrical with a flat top and was worn by the European knightly class until the early 14th century.

This helmet is based on an illustration of the Templars. The poor knights of Christ were established to protect pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land. Over time, the Templars developed into one of the finest fighting forces of the Middle Ages. Their motto was: Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam (“Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to Your name give the glory”).

The helmet is approximately 36 cm high. The eye slits are about 15 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. The inner diameter is 68 cm (excluding the leather liner) and fits most head circumferences from approximately 58 to 61 cm. The helmet comes with a liner and chin strap. If you wish to wear additional padding, measure your head circumference while wearing it. The padded lining already attached inside the helmet is usually sufficient.
