Product description
These Celtic earrings are inspired by one of the oldest art historical motifs in Europe. Spirals have been engraved into rocks since the Stone age. The Celts made extensive use of spiral motifs in their Hallstatt and La Tène art styles.
Spiral motifs have been present in Europe since the Neolithic period and are often associated with sun worship. Although their precise meaning could differ per culture, archaeological and artistic evidence points to shared symbolism, influenced by Neolithic farmers and adopted in later Indo-European sun cults. During the Celtic La Tène period and the early Middle Ages, this symbolism continued to play a central role in their art styles.
