Product description
These slender, elongated Norwegian spearheads (9th/11th century – Type K according to Petersen – mainly found in Sweden) were built for throwing. Their shape and weight, combined with the force of the throw, enabled deep penetration. On the battlefields of the early Middle Ages, Norsemen often carried several javelins and hurled them at the enemy as the distance closed. This freed them to fight with swords, axes, or heavier spears in the hand-to-hand combat that followed. Made from hardened EN45 carbon steel, this spearhead fits a Viking Age or early medieval setting. It measures about 41 cm (16.25 in.) long, with edges about 28 cm (11 in.) long. Use the two pre-drilled holes to attach it to a wooden shaft of your choice and build your own Viking or early medieval spear. Shaft and additional mounting material are not included.
