Product description
This Viking sword is a replica of an 11th-century sword found in a swamp near Dybek in Sweden. The original is on display at the Historiska Museet in Stockholm. It is a Petersen type Z. The pommel and cross-guard are richly decorated with birds, snakes, and tendrils in the Winchester style, making it perhaps the most beautiful excavated Viking sword in Scandinavia. Archaeologists suspect the sword originated in England or was based on English metalwork. A Viking noble likely owned it, given their close contact with England. Made from tempered EN45 carbon steel, the strong blade features a wide fuller. The edge is 1 mm thick, so you can also keep the sword blunted or grind it to a razor-sharp edge. The lobed pommel is peened, the grip is wrapped with brass wire, and the tang runs into the pommel. The sword ships with a beautifully decorated scabbard you can hang on your belt.Product details
