Product description
This seax is based on originals made in the British Isles between the 9th and 11th centuries. You find this type mainly in the British Isles and Ireland, though some examples also saw use in Scandinavia and Germany. Warriors and craftsmen carried saxes like this as both weapons and everyday cutting tools. They may also have played a ritual role in offerings.
Vikings were skilled bone workers, crafting combs and even knife handles from cattle bones. The grip features abstract decoration — a style commonly applied to knives and saxes throughout the Viking Age.
The seax comes with a luxurious leather sheath with brass decorations.
