Product description
This bronze Valkyrie pendant is a replica from the Viking era. It depicts a female figure, nobly dressed with tied hair, holding a drinking horn. The original is on display at the Danish National Museum. The Viking amulet is interpreted as a Valkyrie offering a fallen warrior a horn of mead to welcome him to Valhalla. Depictions of women are more common than pendants among Viking Age finds. People likely wore them as protective amulets during that period — in Norse mythology, Valkyrie women were those who, after battle, chose the souls of fallen warriors (Einherijr) to guide them to the halls of Valhalla.
