Product description
This bronze Valkyrie pendant is a replica from the Viking era. It depicts a female figure, nobly dressed with tied hair, holding a drinking horn. The original is on display at the Danish National Museum. The amulet is interpreted as a Valkyrie offering a fallen warrior a horn of mead to welcome him to Valhalla. Depictions of women are more common than other pendants in Viking Age finds. Warriors likely wore them as protective amulets, since in Norse mythology Valkyrie women were the ones who, after battle, chose the souls of fallen warriors (Einherijr) and guided them to the halls of Valhalla.
