Aventails like this were worn across Europe throughout the 15th and 16th centuries. By the 16th century, this style had become immensely popular among the German Landsknecht and the Scottish and Irish Galloglass. This type of aventail is also known as a Bishop's Mantle. It features leather straps with replica buckles. The bottom edge of the collar is made from brass chainmail. This aventail is made from mixed riveted flat rings with round rivets in a 1:4 ratio.
