Aventails like this were worn all across Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries. By the 16th century, the style had become immensely popular among the German Landsknecht and the Scottish and Irish Galloglass. This type of aventail is also called a Bishop's Mantle. It features leather straps with replica buckles. Made from butted rings in a 1:4 pattern.
