This statue is a handmade wood carving of the Viking god Thor. Inspired by the Icelandic statue of Thor from 1000 AD, found on the Eyarland farm near Akureyri, the original is on display at the National Museum in Iceland. The statue probably shows Thor holding his Mjolnir. In Icelandic tradition, the Mjolnir is often depicted in the shape of a cross. The statue may be based on a scene from the Edda, where Thor sits and grasps his Hammer with both hands during a wedding ceremony. This wood carving is a work of art — perfect as home decoration, for a home altar, or as a gift. Paint it a different color, or stain it if you want to place it outside.
