New from Red Dragon — known for their high-quality HEMA plastic training swords — this line brings the same quality to replica historical swords. Each sword ships with a leather scabbard and belt, made from high-quality steel and hardened to handle intensive training.
This sword replicates a sword recovered from the River Thames in London, directly opposite Temple Church — the headquarters of the Knights Templar in England. It was presumably forged in the early fourteenth century. In the Middle Ages, the church had a larger garden that extended all the way to the banks of the Thames. Historians believe the sword was thrown into the river when Edward II dissolved the Templar Order in 1314.
This large hand-and-a-half sword of the Oakeshott type XII features a wooden core scabbard wrapped in brown leather, complete with a leather strap and a brown leather grip. A cross motif decorates both the scabbard and the Oakeshott type K pommel. The edge measures 1.5 mm thick. The blade is tempered and made from 1075 carbon steel, with a core hardness of 45 HRC and an edge hardness of 50 HRC. These two different hardness levels make the sword flexible and less brittle than comparable models — a combination of excellent craftsmanship and years of HEMA experience.
