Product description
This surcoat is based on the overcoats worn by sergeants of the Knights Templar. Before soldiers and nobles wore surcoats to tell each other apart on the battlefield, they were a humble piece of clothing — worn by monks and the lower classes to stay clean while working. The Knights Templar wore them to suggest piety and shield themselves from the hot sun of the Levant, making them an iconic part of their image. Non-noble sergeants had to wear black or brown overcoats, while knights of noble birth wore white robes.
