Product description
The Templars wore white clothing on their flags, banners, and garments — symbolizing their religious calling — with a red cross of broad arms placed at the center of their chest. This symbol represented the four elements (the arms) and the "quintessence" (the center). Pope Eugene III granted them the vermilion cross in 1147, allowing it to serve as a shield and keeping the Templars resolute in their fight against the infidels. The Templar cross spread without boundaries, gaining wide recognition across the world. Christopher Columbus even adopted it during his voyages of discovery as a symbol on the "three caravels." Made from synthetic resin with a sandstone look, this 'stone' is built for outdoor use. Note that the stone finish may fade slightly over time in direct sunlight.
