Product description
This lamp is based on the 7th-century original found in the Anglo-Saxon boat grave of Sutton Hoo. Germanic tribes used oil lamps like these everywhere. A comparable Viking original turned up in the 9th-century Oseberg ship. Light it with beeswax just like the originals — add a few small wooden pieces as a wick, or a piece of dried tinder fungus. To put it out, place a wooden plank on the tray.
