Product description
During the Middle Ages, the tabard was a humble piece of clothing worn by monks, farmers, and foot soldiers over their clothing for protection. From the twelfth century onward, knights wore surcoats over their plate armor. Cross Knights wore white surcoats to reflect the heat of the sun on their equipment in the desert of the Holy Land. Later, other colors were also worn. From the thirteenth century, knights displayed their heraldry on the garment so it could be recognized in battle.
This surcoat is made in a solid color with no heraldry. Decorate it yourself with your own heraldry, or customize it with the cross of a knighthood. Designed to be worn over chainmail hauberks, gambesons, and plate armor.
