This cape draws its design from the discovery of a bog body found clothed and wrapped in a woolen blanket at the Skjoldehamn farm in Andøya, Norway. The exact age remains uncertain, but recent studies point to the 11th century. Researchers have not definitively established the sex of the person wearing the Viking Gugel, though most currently assume it was a woman. The Viking cape was an essential garment Vikings wore on their expeditions and explorations. Made from durable wool, it offered protection against the harsh Nordic elements. Wear it to festivals, LARP events, and reenactments — it's especially great for cold, wet days when you need to stay warm.
