Haubergeon, unriveted, galvanized 9 mm

This haubergeon is made from 1.6 mm thick zinc-plated butted round rings with an inner diameter of 9 mm. The rings are handwoven in a four-in-one pattern. It features short sleeves and reaches to the hip.

Available in sizes M, L, and XL. Chest circumference is measured including a gambeson (subarmalis).

Vikings and other warriors wore short chainmail shirts like this one during the early Middle Ages. They remained in use until the 11th century, then made a comeback in the second half of the 14th century. From that point on, these short chainmail shirts were called haubergeons — a diminutive of hauberk, or long chainmail shirt. Haubergeons offer optimal protection and more freedom of movement than the hauberk. That made them ideal to wear under armor.

Attach armor parts to the shoulders and arms of the haubergeon easily with leather laces.
