Product description
The Sallet helmet, or sallet, is a development of the bascinet. It was the ideal helmet for medieval archers and infantry. Soldiers wore sallets like this all over Europe, and they were very popular for their excellent visibility and hearing. This type of sallet first appeared between 1370 and 1390 in Northern Italy. In the first half of the 15th century, the sallet became very popular in Italy, France, and England.
The neck guard gives this sallet protection for both the head and neck. That made it especially useful against incoming arrows or stones during sieges. A great helmet for medieval reenactment or LARP.
