Product description
A wonderful accessory for Roman re-enactment and for crafting your own (leather) armor. For Romans, a phalera was similar to a medal or trophy. The Roman army awarded these round discs to soldiers who distinguished themselves in battle. The discs were made from silver, bronze, or gold. During military parades, Romans wore the phalerae on their leather armor. Veterans wearing armor full of phalerae were highly regarded and respected. This phalera is decorated with the head of Medusa, one of the 3 Gorgons in Greek mythology.
