Product description
The word "hasta" means spear in Latin. Early Roman legionaries used the hasta. During the republican period, the Romans replaced the hasta on a large scale with the pilum and gladius. The cavalry and auxiliae continued to use the hasta. The pilum was designed for throwing from a longer distance, while the hasta was built for close combat — making it effective against cavalry. Historically, smiths forged the hasta from bronze or iron.
This hasta is made from metal and comes without a wooden shaft. It is semi-sharp, so it is suitable for decorative use only. You can also blunt it.
